周瑜自幼与孙策交好，孙策于袁术麾下初崛起时曾随之扫荡江东。后来回去镇守丹阳。袁术心慕周瑜的才干，欲聘周瑜为将，但是周瑜以袁术难成大事而拒绝。其后设法投奔孙策，为中郎将，孙策相待甚厚，又同时迎娶有「国色」之称的二乔，成为连襟。孙策遇刺后，临终嘱咐孙权：「外事不决，可问周瑜。」，周瑜奔丧还吴与张昭一起共同辅佐孙权，并且举荐鲁肃等人，执掌军政大事。赤壁大战之前自鄱阳赶回力主拒曹，后于群英会戏蒋干、怒打黄盖行使离间计、最后指挥全军在赤壁袭击曹军取得胜利，并取得副都督程普的拜服与信任。赤壁大战之后，下南郡与曹仁相持，中箭负伤，与诸葛亮较计赛谋，定下假涂灭虢等计策，最后终于死于巴陵，时年三十六岁。死前上书举荐鲁肃代其位，孙权为其素服吊丧。( 散文阅读：www.sanwen.net )
