这个世界上没有“绝对”的东西，有人说“静止是相对的，运动是绝对的”，不然也，运动也是相对的，是有参照物的，因为没有“绝对时间”的概念，时间是和空间联系在一起的，世界上没有“绝对标准的一秒钟”的概念，因此只要是有“分别”的、有时间概念的都是相对的，都是有规律的。
我们在这个相对的世界里，只能接受它的规律 ---- 空性 ---- 在一切现象中没有固有的存在。一切现象任何事物的存在都有因果，缘起而性空。每个因，都必定产生一个果，每个果，肯定有一个因，显示出的现象是依存性地缘起产生的，依赖于各种原因和条件，即缺乏固有的存在，这才是佛教大乘空宗所说的“空” ---- 整个宇宙，无论主观还是客观，都缺乏固有的存在，没有永恒(常见)，也没有虚无(断见)。
空的意义正是说宇宙万事万物只有在统一的联系中才有存在的意义，孤立事物不能存在。因此包括空性自身在内都没有什么超出缘起之上。
所谓真实之相，是无相的净妙大相。大相无形，故眼不能见;诸法皆空，空而不空，真空妙有。
