"大医精诚"
唐代医学家孙思邈著有《大医精诚》，说：“凡大医治病，必当安神定志，无欲无求，先发大慈恻隐之心，誓愿普求含灵之苦……勿避险希、昼夜、寒暑、饥渴、疲劳，一心赴救，无作功夫形迹之心。如此可为苍生大医。”
"杏林春暖"
"杏林春暖"，常被用来赞誉医术高超、医德高尚的医生。
相传三国时，名医董奉隐居庐山。他为人看病从不收诊金，只要被治愈的病人种植杏树。几年以后，被治愈者无数，而杏树也有了十余万株，蔚然成林。每当杏熟的时候，董奉便贴出告示，凡是到此买杏者，不收银钱，得用稻谷来换杏。然后董奉又将收到的稻谷，悉数用于救济穷苦百姓。乡民们敬佩董奉的人品和医德，便写了"杏林春暖"的条幅挂在他家门口。从这以后，"杏林春暖"一词逐渐流传开来，沿用至今。
“悬壶济世”
《后汉书·方术列传》上记载着一个奇异的传说：东汉时有个叫费长房的人。一日，他在酒楼喝酒解闷，偶见街上有一卖药的老翁，悬挂着一个药葫芦兜售丸散膏丹。卖了一阵，街上行人渐渐散去，老翁就悄悄钻入了葫芦之中。
